4 Rivers Stewardship Fund

Background: In December 2020, Forever Our Rivers Foundation established the 4Rivers Stewardship Fund. The Fund provides grants to monitor and maintain riparian restoration projects in areas mapped and defined by the Walton Family Foundation in the Dolores, Escalante, Verde and Gila watersheds.

Grant Application Process: Please fill out the form below and upload requested attachments by March 25, 2025.

List the staff and project partners who will implement the monitoring, maintenance and related activities. Include a description of each person’s role. (250 words)

List the activities that will be completed. Include all steps taken, including permits, access plans, vegetation surveys, secondary invasives and data reporting. (500 words)

Describe where the work will occur and include a map.

Attach a project timeline. (250 words)

Describe how the project fits into the long-term stewardship plans for the watershed. Include the overall goals for the watershed and how the monitoring and maintenance information will be evaluated and used to support those goals. (300 words)

Describe any media you will create about this project including photos, interviews or videos. FOR encourages organizations to provide multi-media assets to help promote the project and will work with organizations to assist in these efforts. (150 words)

You may apply for monitoring and/or maintenance funds, but you must identify exactly what you will be using the funds for and you must include two separate budgets if you are asking for both monitoring and maintenance funds. To be eligible for funding you must raise at least a 1:1 match. Include the cover letter of the award that identifies who the match is from, how much it is for and how it is restricted. Funds from either the Walton Family Foundation or Conservation Legacy cannot be counted towards matching funds. Use this form to prepare your budget. (300 words)
